Old Hollywood

I received a lovely coffee table book filled with photos of the glamorous Audrey Hepburn for Christmas (thanks to my sis!) and it has inspired me to do a little post on Old Hollywood.  My absolute favorite era.

Clara Bow

Betty Grable

Mae West

Audrey Hepburn

Marion Davies

Elizabeth Taylor

Lauren Bacall

Ingrid Bergman

Marlene Dietrich

Sophia Loren

Marilyn Monroe

Aren't these ladies just gorgeous?  I love looking back on the golden age.  Incredible fashion, handsome gentlemen, meerschaum pipes, fur stoles & fabulous cars.

Bonne journée!

Day 12

No. 12

Is this not the perfect holiday shoe!?  A little glitz, a bit of glam.  And plenty of height.  I'm 5'1" so I could use a few extra inches.

 Happy Holidays
I hope you have enjoyed my 12 Days of Shoes!

Lace

No. 11

One word my friends: Lace.  I can't get enough.  It can go from delicate to provocative, simple to ornate.  There is no limit to the versatility of lace.

Laser Cut

No. 10

Ladies & Gents... this is the one we've been waiting for!  Isn't this laser-cut detailing to die for?  I am smitten.  This pump is both sexy and romantic.  If only I could own it... sigh.

Suede

No. 9

This lovely beauty caught my eye with it's nostalgic top stitching and sumptuous teal suede.  A vintage inspired style always takes center stage in my closet.

This luxurious scarf wrapped sandal is flattering and oh-so feminine.  I can't get enough of the fabric bow!  It appears both delicate and effortless.  Perfect for a warm getaway.

Distressed

No. 7

This boot is pleasantly distressed.  I enjoy a good grunge accessory when the right outfit calls for it.  These weathered and worn looking knee-highs have a hint of nostalgia as well, something I can never get enough of.

Gingham

No. 5

What a breath of fresh air!  This gingham pump with the knot over the toe is refreshing and colorful.  I'm loving the retro vibe.

Pair it with this ensemble from the Mondo Guerra spring 2010 line to give it some modern pizazz.

I really enjoy mixing prints and patterns.  Mondo does it so well, I can't wait to see his future collections.

Velvet

No. 4

I love crushed velvet.  Especially during the winter season. These sweet beauties are extra luxe with the charming bows and glitter detailing.  Who doesn't love a little sparkle this time of year?

Oxford

One of my favorite trends this season is menswear...

& what better way to add a little masculine touch than with a snazzy pair of oxfords.

No. 3
The metallic bronze gives this classic design a chic & savvy twist.

Peep Toe

No. 2

This wedge is so charming, I had to put up two pictures to fully enjoy it. I love the delicate pink grosgrain ribbon in contrast to the modern patent black leather.

12 Days of Shoes

I've decided to merge the spirit of Christmas with the spirit of fashion.  Instead of doing the traditional 12 Days of Christmas, I will be doing my own version- the 12 Days of Shoes.  I hope you all enjoy.  I know I will!

How festive is this flannel bootie!?  I am loving it!
Now I can be warm and tall in the winter... that is, as soon as Santa delivers these babies :)

Christmas avec Pura Vida

I've just finished doing Holiday displays for Pura Vida, the massage college in Cedar.  You must go in and check it out!  & while you're there, you might as well stay for a relaxing massage at a fabulous price.

They carry some great lines: Life is Good, Island Soaps & Handmade Expressions- a fair trade organization that makes wooden puzzle boxes and cruelty-free leather notebooks, among other fun things.

Pura Vida is located at 943 S Main Street in Cedar City.

Craving a make over?

I haven't done makeup on anyone besides myself for quite some time and I've been missing it.

This is the work of Kim Baker.  & the inspiration for my next project.  Any of you photographers out there interested in avant garde makeup for an upcoming shoot?  You know where to find me (wink, wink).

Book du'jour

During the month of October I helped Braun Books with design and displays at their new location (25 N Main Street) and what a journey it has been.  They started out with a bare white building and we were able to spice it up quite a bit. Check out the before & after pics.

 Book mobiles
My apologies for the picture quality, I really must get a better camera... or figure out how to properly set my current one.  The book mobiles were my favorite to assemble, and quite simple actually.  My inspiration came from the artwork of Lisa Occhipinti.  She creates the most amazing book art.

Once upon a photo shoot

Last fall I worked as the makeup artist for one of my favorite photographers Chelsea Wilde on her project Grimm Fairy Tales.  Unfortunately her house sold quite unexpectedly and she was whisked away to California, so we weren’t able to finish all the characters, but here are two that made the cut.

Snow white
My personal favorite.  The model’s fair skin tone was perfect for the look

Red Riding Hood
The lighting could not have been better.

Do you like how the makeup turned out?  Notice how the lip color reflects the shade of the hood on Red.  & Snow White's reflects the color of the apples.  I usually prefer juxtaposition, but in this case, the matching tones give the images a cohesiveness that feels appropriate.
